JAPANESE MARKET / REVIEWED OCTOBER 27, 2026

Different badges.
A clearer starting point.

Four ways to start: Single cab, Jumbo / extended cab, Van and Dump. Then choose the manufacturer, exact grade and equipment around the work.

Model research is not Phosphor inventory. Japanese availability does not establish US import eligibility or road registration. Manufacturer specifications and exact vehicle documents must be checked before a quote.

Explore our build studies

The shape comes first.

Single cab is the compact open-bed truck. Jumbo is Daihatsu's extended-cab name; Suzuki uses Super Carry and Subaru uses Grand Cab. These are not four-door crew cabs. Van is an enclosed body. Dump is a tipping-bed configuration, not a separate engine family.

Canopies, cargo boxes, snow plows and tracks belong under equipment and build options. Our generated collections now include Daihatsu and Suzuki studies, not every badge below.

Three gasoline engine families.

KF, R06A and S07B are all 658 cc three-cylinder gasoline engines in these current families. The truck specifications reviewed use naturally aspirated engines, not turbo or diesel. Selected van grades offer turbo engines. Output, torque and transmission must follow the exact grade rather than a shared badge or engine name.

Current gasoline truck families offer 2WD and 4WD configurations. That does not make every grade 4WD. A CVT is not the same transmission as a conventional four-speed automatic. Low range and differential locks are grade-specific, not universal.

A dump bed built for the load.

Daihatsu lists multipurpose, low-bed, earth/sand and refuse dump variants. Suzuki lists Kintaro, heavy-duty, shallow-bed, refuse and lift-dump variants. A farm dump is not automatically approved for soil or gravel: some are expressly marked against those loads. Confirm body maker, permitted material, payload and hydraulic system on the exact truck.

Explore Phosphor's Mini Dump appearance study. Exact vehicle grade and import documentation remain pending.

Electric vans are their own branch.

Current Japanese manufacturer lineups also include Daihatsu e-Hijet Cargo / e-Atrai, Suzuki e EVERY, Toyota Pixis Van BEV, Honda N-VAN e:, Mitsubishi Minicab EV and Nissan Clipper EV. These use electric motors, not the gasoline engines above. Do not assume gasoline-platform parts, 4WD availability or charging compatibility carry over.

History matters.

Older Sambar, Minicab, Clipper and Acty vehicles can have entirely different engines and drivetrains from current namesakes. Do not apply this current-family guide to an auction vehicle without checking its chassis code and manufacture date.
